While I have a land line at home, I do not have a land line phone (nor do I want one). The land line is currently only in place so I can have DSL. Of course, I have and use a mobile phone instead for all of my calls. Unfortunately, on select overcast days, my reception will cut out within my apartment. This is a problem when on work-related conference calls. Now, the obvious solution would be to reacquire a land line phone. That is what I intend to try and avoid. As such, I am looking at using XTen's SIP softphone and Addaline as my provider. Of course, I will probably want|need to upgrade to the non-free version of XTen's softphone and acquire a headset to really make this work. Should anyone have any opinions, experiences, or recommendations, I'd love to hear them.

Hopefully he's not just thinking out loud: Erik Lagerway, the president of VoIP company Xten, has been musing on his blog about how he thinks his company should be able to hack together a VoIP softphone for Sony's PlayStation Portable. Should be totally doable, too, since the PSP has built-in WiFi, a TCP stack, and a "Headphone/Microphone/Control connector".
